The Ox
Distant Shores [album]
Imagine
yourself on a tropical shore,
relaxing as you wiggle your toes in
the sand, listening to the gentle rhythm
of the ocean and tranquil music from
The Oxs
Distant Shores. Bliss...
IF YOU'RE LOOKING FOR SOMETHING DIFFERENT musically for the New Year,
look no further. The Ox's fantastic debut album, Distant Shores,
is the perfect way to start 2009.
Ox is a UK-based songwriter and producer whose future looks extremely promising.
Distant Shores is a delight to listen to with beautiful guitar melodies,
timeless strings and electronic layers that create the peace and tranquillity
to wave away your cares and surround yourself with a relaxing aura. Fabulous.
All the way from the magical, re-energising yet relaxing first track, Spirals,
through to the final, mesmerising title track, Distant Shores takes you
on a spiritual journey of musical awareness.
A newcomer to the down-tempo scene, Ox appears to be going from strength to
strength. Following tracks that were included on a few compilations, he had
success with downloads in Japan via Toryumon. He has since maintained his place
in the top ten 'UK down-tempo charts' on MySpace for over six months and counting!
The
man behind Ox is multi-talented musician Paul Hogg nicknamed 'Ox' at
college because of his large frame and stature. It stuck, and under that name
this charismatic young man is beautifully demonstrating his versatility.
Playing all the instruments himself on Distant Shores as well
as being responsible for the writing, recording, production and mastering
Ox numbers Moby, Craig Armstrong, Groove Armada and Chic as his influences.
Ox has successfully achieved his aim to evoke passion and emotion in all those
who listen to his work.
The lovely, classically-defined music on the track Glenorchy takes you
into the realms of another world; but Distant Shores is filled with enchanting
and uplifting chords alongside tracks such as City Lights, Sparks
and Take Your Time that seduce you into taking to the dance floor to
move with the pulsating beat.
As a producer, re-mixer and musician, Paul has several other projects he is
working on, crossing over several different music genres. He is keen to do remixes
and work with solo singer-songwriters.
Distant Shores is a distinctive, mood-lifting album with superbly-fulfilling
music that radiates charm, is wonderfully relaxing and allows you to experience
the brilliance of Ox.
Distant Shores is available now to
download from the usual outlets and there are also a limited number of signed
CDs available from The Ox page at myspace.com/oxtunes.

"This entire album has that special something not often found on electronic
music albums. The Ox manages to change things up a bit with a collection of
tunes ranging from live acoustic compositions to medium tech house tracks. I
know what I'm playing on my next beach-side road trip... This is a very nice
collection of moods and tones" Demarkus Lewis, Grin Music
"What I heard is pretty good especially The Ox... good groove" Jugoslav
Starovlah (aka DJ Goju), Migrations Radio Show
"His album is not really my thing but it sounds good" Nick Holder,

"Smooth and relaxing... ideal background music. I must admit the right vocals
could do the trick to take it to the next level though" Tunji Adebowale
(Media and Publicity Director, Starpoint Radio)
"Distant Shores is a distinctive, mood-lifting album with superbly-fulfilling
music that radiates charm, is wonderfully relaxing and allows you to experience
